What is JOAD? Who are the South Bay X-Ring Archers?
Our X-Ring Archers Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) and USA Archery Adult Programs have been developed at SBAC to introduce and promote archery to people from all walks of life in which our goal is to teach each archer how to safely and correctly enjoy the sport in both recreational and competitive aspects.
The JOAD and USA Archery Adult Programs are administered by USA Archery, the national governing body for the sport of archery in the United States. USA Archery is sanctioned by the US Olympic Committee to oversee US Olympic Archery, and in addition is a member of World Archery, formerly FITA (Federation Internationale de Tir a l’Arc).

The SBAC Junior Olympic Archery Development(JOAD) and USA Archery Adult Programs are conducted on Saturday mornings at our range, weather permitting. Our Beginning class runs from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m., and our Intermediate class runs from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Each class is conducted by USA Archery Certified Level 3 NTS Coaches and/or Level 1 and 2 Instructors.
In order to become part of the JOAD or Adult Program each student must have reached their 8th birthday, and must go through our beginner safety and bow familiarization class which is held on select Saturdays each month depending on the availability of instructors. For this class we provide all the equipment necessary to get started. For each familiarization class we have a reserve list for 8 students; Once the student has been through this class they are invited to return on the following Saturday(weather and schedule permitting) to shoot with the regular beginner class.
Each of these two lessons are free; If you feel that our program is a good fit for yourself or your archer and he or she would like to continue with the program we ask that you Join our South Bay Archery Club in which the yearly fees are pro-rated from the month of February: http://www.southbayarcheryclub.com There is an additional one-time fee of $40.00 to join the USA Archery JOAD or Adult programs in which we provide you with a Club X-Ring Archers t-shirt.

Similar in scope to JOAD, the Adult Archery Program is a logical “next step” for adult archers pursuing this lifetime sport. The main differences are yardage to earn pins, and the shape of the pins (hexagonal versus round). Click link for more info.
