USA Archery Junior olympic Archery development(JOAD) and adult programs

The SBAC X-Ring Archers Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) and USA Archery Adult Programs at SBAC have been developed to introduce and promote archery to people from all walks of life in which our goal is to teach each archer how to safely and correctly enjoy the sport in both recreational and competitive aspects.

The JOAD and USA Archery Adult Programs are administered and certified by USA Archery, the national governing body for the sport of archery in the United States. USA Archery is sanctioned by the United States Olympic Comittee, World Archery, and the International Olympic Committee.

For additional information on the USA Archery programs please click on the link below:http://www.teamusa.org/usa-archery/archers/junior-olympic-archery-developmenthttp://www.teamusa.org/usa-archery/archers/adult-archery-pr

The SBAC Junior Olympic Archery Development(JOAD) and USA Archery Adult Programs are conducted on Saturday mornings at our range (weather permitting) and runs from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.

Each class is conducted by USA Archery Certified Level 4 and Level 3 NTS Coaches and/or Level 1 and 2 Instructors.

In order to become part of the JOAD or Adult Program each student must have reached their 8th birthday, and must go through our Introductory class which is held on select Saturdays each month depending on the availability of instructors. For this class we provide all the equipment necessary to get started and go over the parts of the equipment, safe handling of the equiment, range safety, and range ettequite. For each Introductory class we have a reserve list for 6 students; Once the student has been through this class they are invited to return on the following Saturday(weather and schedule permitting) to shoot with the regular beginner class.

The first two lessons are free; If you feel that our program is a good fit for yourself or your archer and he or she would like to continue with the program we ask that you Join our South Bay Archery Club in which the yearly fees are pro-rated from the month of February: http://www.southbayarcheryclub.com There is an additional one-time fee of $40.00 to join the USA Archery JOAD or Adult programs in which we provide you with a Club X-Ring Archers t-shirt.

The weekly fee for JOAD and the Adult Program is $10.00 a week with the 5th week free. Information on how to register for our class may be found below.

Class Information and Changes

New Class Format and how to Register for the JOAD and Adult Class

Why we are Changing our Format

Due to availability issues with instructors and coaches, our program will not be conducted as it was prior to the COVID shutdown. The changes we have made are due to both consulting other clubs and how their programs are run as well as issues in maintaining traffic control coming into the range. Previously we had kept the gate open for the classes, but as per the LA County Sheriff and RPV Parks and Recreation we have been directed to leave the gate closed due to the recent exponential increase in traffic and visitors to the RPV area.

New Appointment System

The first change we have made is consolidating the former Beginning and Intermediate Class into one which will begin at 8:30 am and conclude at 10am. Prior to COVID many times the Intermediate Class was poorly attended or not at all. So we have eliminated it.

Second, we have limited the class size to 16 participants and will be using a first come, first serve appointment system via Google Forms which you can access via the link provided below. We are also limiting the class size for safety reasons and because of a reduction in the amount of instructors and coaches available.

Introductory Class

If you have not have any previous experience with archery before or have not been through a certified archery safety class you will need to go through our Introductory Class prior to attending our regular JOAD and Adult Program Class.

We have a roster for our first-time Introductory Class which is limited to 6 people and is held on the third Saturday of each month. The sign-up for this class will also be available via a Google Form via the link provided below. For our Introductory Class participants we will have someone at the gate to allow these first time, non-members into the range who have reserved a class space but do not have a key. The gate will be locked promptly at 8:25 am so please allow yourself time to get there.

  • Participants will not be allowed to make reservations for more than two weeks at a time. Classes may be canceled due to a lack of instructors or in due to a special event, i.e. local, regional, or national tournament.

  • Once the roster is filled for the class it will not allow you to make an appointment.
  •
  • We will not be accepting walk-ins.

We also ask that you be on time for the class. Late participants are very disruptive to the class and we will no longer accommodate this. If you are late you will not be allowed to join the class.

We realize these are big changes, but necessary. Please bear in mind that all of our instructors and coaches are volunteers and do not get paid to be there.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email. Also, please direct all questions or comments to the email address below.  Please do not send email to any of the coach's personal email addresses unless they have provided you with one.

Additionally, if you would like to be added to our JOAD and Adult Programs email list please let us know!
